AhlulBayt News Agency: Senior Shia cleric Maulana Kalbe Jawad, while addressing a large public gathering after Friday prayers, strongly criticized the Indian government for its indirect support of Israel. He described this stance as a deviation from India’s traditional and moral foreign policy.
He recalled a statement by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee of the BJP, in which Vajpayee said that Israel has occupied Palestinian land and that Israel must withdraw from this occupation. Maulana stated that today’s BJP government should also follow in Vajpayee’s footsteps by opposing Israel and supporting Palestine.
Warning the government, Maulana said that supporting Israel will yield no benefit, as history has shown that Israel is not only an enemy of Muslims but also a threat to Hindus.
He emphasized that the Palestinian issue is not merely a territorial dispute but has become a symbol of justice and humanity.
“The children, women, and civilians being killed in Gaza — do their lives not matter? Will we remain silent just for the sake of economic and diplomatic interests?”
Maulana Kalbe Jawad appealed to the Muslim community to raise their voices peacefully in support of their Palestinian brothers — from social media to the streets, at every platform. He also urged the government to reconsider its foreign policy and adopt a clear and just stance against Zionist atrocities.
In conclusion, he said that the conscience of India is not yet dead — “If the people raise their voice, the government will have to bow. We must stand united in the defense of humanity, wherever and with whomever the injustice occurs.”
On the occasion of Quds Day, a large number of people gathered at Asafi Mosque in Lucknow, raising slogans against Israel.
