AhlulBayt News Agency: Israeli forces have executed 15 Palestinian paramedics and rescue workers from the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) and Gaza’s Civil Defence, who went missing while responding to an Israeli airstrike in Rafah’s Tal Sultan neighborhood.
The PRCS reported on Saturday that the team disappeared while attempting to evacuate casualties from a bombing site. Later, their four ambulances were found destroyed and buried in sand, with torn medical gear scattered nearby.
Witnesses told Al Jazeera that Israeli forces had executed the rescue workers and buried their bodies.
The PRCS also accused Israeli forces of deliberately targeting the rescuers, altering the crime scene, and concealing evidence using bulldozers.
International organizations, including the Red Cross, have been urged to intervene and uncover the truth.
The humanitarian group has also condemned Israel for the killings, saying that the deliberate targeting of medical teams constitutes a violation of international law.
Israel’s military admitted to firing on the ambulances but provided no further details.
The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas condemned the attack as a “war crime.” Hamas called for the formation of an international committee to immediately investigate the crime of targeting civil defense and ambulance personnel while they were carrying out their humanitarian duty and to hold the war criminals accountable.
Global silence, Hamas warned, amounts to complicity in Israel’s ongoing atrocities.
