Police arrests student on charge of watching ISIS video; Madrid

Police in Madrid have arrested a student accused of watching ISIS propaganda videos during class-time and threatening to massacre his fellow pupils.

(AhlulBayt News Agency) - Police in Madrid have arrested a student accused of watching ISIS propaganda videos during class-time and threatening to massacre his fellow pupils.

The 27-year-old Spaniard also allegedly told his classmates he wanted to join the terror group after celebrating their attacks including the Paris attacks last November which claimed the lives of 130 people.

Officers said he also visited a library near his study center most days where he surfed the internet and aired his extremist views using a fake profile.

He was held after returning from a trip to Turkey which authorities have yet to release details about.

A second suspect, an 18-year-old man, has been held in the same police operation dubbed GRIN on suspicion of glorifying terrorism.

Neither has been named.

A police spokesman said: 'The investigation began when, within the framework of surveillance of jihadist (Takfiri) extremists carried out by officers, we learned of a trip to Turkey by the older suspect and his subsequent return to Spain a few days later via the Turkish-Hungarian border.

'The suspect had already displayed his extremism in an education center where he was taking a computer studies course.

'There he shouted out in public several comments justifying the November 2015 Paris attack during a minute's silence.

'He also justified publicly and on numerous occasions two ISIS attacks which caused loss of life, claiming that ISIS is the ideal place for a Muslim to live and telling his classmates he intended to join ISIS.'

'Teachers and other pupils saw him watching ISIS propaganda videos in class and he even threatened to kill those classmates, telling them he would come armed to class one day and massacre them all.

'He would go to a library most days where he would visit jihadist (Takfiri) websites. He also created different profiles hiding his real identity on social media sites where he made his views known and spread news about terrorist organizations, especially ISIS.

'He also lent his support to Takfiri prisoners, criticized moderate Muslims and publicly expressed his wish Spain would end up becoming a so-called Islamic State.

'The second detainee, an 18-year-old Spaniard, has also been arrested on suspicion of glorifying terrorism.'
