The Palestinian guidance committee for the Negev Arabs condemned the decision of the Israeli municipal council in Beersheba city to hold next Wednesday and Thursday a festival for alcoholic drinks in the historical Mosque of the city.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The Palestinian guidance committee for the Negev Arabs condemned the decision of the Israeli municipal council in Beersheba city to hold next Wednesday and Thursday a festival for alcoholic drinks in the historical Mosque of the city.

In a press release, the committee described this Israeli decision as a disregard for the feelings of Muslims and the sanctity of their holy places.

As a result, the committee said it intends to organize a protest next Wednesday at five pm in the Mosque's courtyard and hold a news conference next Sunday in the same place.

It also declared its intention to establish an ad hoc committee to follow up the issue of Beersheba Mosque until it is open for prayers again.

The guidance committee noted that Beersheba Mosque was established in 1906 during the Ottoman era by Palestinian donors and turned into a Jewish museum in 2011 after banning the Muslims from performing their prayers in it.
