Imam Khamenei pardons, commutes prison terms of 1,002 inmates

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei on Thursday pardoned or commuted prison terms of 1,002 of inmates sentenced by various courts of justice.Ayatollah Khamenei granted the amnesty on the occasion of Islamic Republic Day on March 31.The amnesty was requested by Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani.These prisoners had been sentenced by the public, Islamic Revilution and military courts and the special court examining charges about profiteering.The Supreme Leader granted the amnesty as per Article 110 of the Constitution upon recommendation from the head of the Judiciary. /129
