On Saturday evening, the files the Palestinian prisoners to be released were delivered to President Shimon Peres' residence so they can be approved for pardons.
Over the next two days, the files will be prepared for consideration by Peres. However, the signing of the pardons won't occur until the outcomes of the appeals against the swap deal are decided.
On Saturday, dozens of people demonstrated outside the presidential residence in Jerusalem against the pardoning of the Palestinian prisoners.
The process of releasing the Palestinian prisoners requires that each receive a personal pardon. Officials said that while Peres will review all the cases, he will not act to block the deal and that he will sign all the necessary pardons.
On Sunday morning, the prisoners will be officially informed of their impending release. Afterwards, they will be asked to pack their belongings and they will then undergo medical checks.
The whole process should be completed by Tuesday, when the exchange is expected to occur.
Under an agreement reached between Israel and Hamas that was announced last Tuesday, Israel is to free 1,027 Palestinian prisoners in exchange for Shalit.
Notification of Release of Security Prisoners 15.10.11
Pursuant to the Government of Israel's decision from October 11, 2011, to approve the proceedings of the agreement for the liberation of abducted soldier Gilad Shalit, held by Hamas, prisoners will be released as detailed in the following list:
Prisoners number 1 to 131 on the list will return to their home in the Gaza Strip.
Prisoners 132 to 186 will return to their home in Judea & Samaria
or in East Jerusalem.
Prisoners 187 to 241 will return to their home in Judea & Samaria
or in East Jerusalem subject to restrictions, as specified in the
agreement.
Prisoners 242 to 281 will be sent abroad.
Prisoners 282 to 299 will be sent to the Gaza Strip for three years.
Prisoners 300 to 444 will be sent to the Gaza Strip.
Prisoners 445 to 450 will return to their home in Israel.
Prisoners (female) 451 to 477 will return to their home in Judea & Samaria, in the
Gaza Strip and in East Jerusalem, except prisoner 473, who will be sent
to Jordan, and prisoner 474, who will be sent to the Gaza Strip.
The Ministry of Justice will operate an information center as of Sunday, October 16, 2011, and until the date of execution of the agreement, from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM,
where information regarding prisoners on the list can be obtained and applications to the MOJ Director General can be submitted.
