Unfortunately, in some families children get discouraged from religion due to their parents’ going to extremes in religious issues. To solve the problem, each family should be analyzed separately based on its background and specific features.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - This is according to Kobra Khan Abadi, university professor and expert in education and ethics, who also said that most of the religious problems in families arise due to the lack of commitment of one spouse to religious codes that will hurt the other, leading eventually to children’s alienation from religion.

“Society and social conditions are not the only responsible factor in individuals’ behavior,” she went on to say, adding that in some cases “children are not alienated but discouraged from religion.”

Referring to the influence of educational conditions on children, she said: “Unfortunately, some youth prefer to study the anti-religion materials presented in some unreliable sites and blindly accept them without doing enough research.”

“They should instead be introduced to reliable sources such as the center for answering religious questions in Qom Seminary—that can be reached through 09640—to get more trustable replies to their questions.”

Ms. Khan Abadi further criticized the lack of appropriate propagation in the media regarding religious issues, calling for better programs that would be more compatible with our ideological principles.

“What is offered by the media concerning the essence of soul, for example, is sometimes in sharp contrast with the Islamic philosophy or what is taught in our universities; and this will result in people’s misunderstanding of religious facts in most cases,” she further remarked.
