Youths of Parachinar staged a protest demonstration for consecutive sixth day in front of the Lahore Press Club on Sunday against continuous siege of Parachinar for the last four years which added to the miseries of poor people of the area.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Youths of Parachinar staged a protest demonstration for consecutive sixth day in front of the Lahore Press Club on Sunday against continuous siege of Parachinar for the last four years which added to the miseries of poor people of the area.

Addressing the protestors, Coordinator Youth of Parachinar Lahore Farhad Bangash said continuous siege of Parachinar and Kuram agency not only made the locals lives miserable but also destroyed their business and education of the students. He said prices of edible items had been increased which affected the purchasing power of the people.

A large number of locals are living below the poverty line, he said and added only road leading to Peshawar had been closed for the last many years due to which people were unable to travel to Peshawar for business, education and medical treatment. He appealed the government to take positive measures to redress the grievances of the people of Parachinar and Kuram agency.

Parachinar is the capital of Kurram Agency, FATA (Federally Administered Tribal Areas) of Pakistan. It is about 290 km west of the capital, Islamabad. It is situated on a neck of Pakistani territory south of Peshawar, that juts into Paktia Province in Afghanistan and is the closest point in Pakistan to Kabul and borders on the Tora Bora region in Afghanistan.
