ABAN24 - In a letter to Pope Leo XIV, the head of the Catholic Church, Ayatollah Mohsen Araki has commended the pontiff’s principled position against warmongering and genocidal threats, stating that the Pope has given voice to the moral conscience of humanity.

the text of the letter by Ayatollah Araki—a member of Iran’s Supreme Council of Seminaries and the Presiding Board of the Assembly of Experts—is as follows:

In the Name of God the Almighty

His Holiness Pope Leo XIV
Supreme Leader of the Catholic Church

With the highest esteem, I write this letter at a time when your clear voice in defense of peace and justice shines like a beacon in the darkness of warmongers and power-worshippers.

In a world where the logic of force has replaced dialogue, and where the threat to annihilate entire civilizations has become the norm of the arrogant and tyrannical president of the United States, Your Holiness has risen to support millions of defenseless people—victims of war, refugees, and mothers who have lost their children in the flames of bombardment.

When you declared the threat of “destroying an entire civilization” and “aggression against other nations” as “completely unacceptable,” you were not making a political comment—you were voicing the ethical conscience of all human beings. Your Holiness has proven that following the Gospel means standing firm against the delusion of hegemonic power, which is the root cause of wars and insecurity.

The release of a fake image portraying Trump in the likeness of Christ the Prince of Peace (PBUH) was an act of blasphemy, an insult to the sanctities of all divine religions, and an assault on the beliefs of billions of Christians and Muslims worldwide. You rightly warned that “the message of the Gospel must not be abused.” This act demonstrates how far certain power-seekers will go in distorting truth and insulting sanctities to gain attention and deceive public opinion. Yet truth can never be buried by lies and insults.

Your Holiness has proven that the leadership of the Church neither bows to tyrants nor remains silent for political gain. Trump’s insults and threats will not weaken your standing—on the contrary, they only elevate your dignity and honor. History will remember the men of peace, not those who, through insults to the sacred and threats to civilizations, leave behind nothing but shame and disgrace.

Trump’s insult to the respected leader of the world’s Catholics is, in reality, an insult to the millions of human beings who yearn for a peaceful life. He thinks that with foul rhetoric he can silence the voice of conscience—heedless of the fact that such insults only expose his own corruption, degradation, and petty, sick character.

In conclusion, we once again salute your valuable stance and express our gratitude. We beseech the Almighty for the establishment of justice and peace across the world.

Mohsen Araki
