AhlulBayt News Agency: The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has announced the dismantling of armed mercenary cells, affiliated with the United States, the Israeli regime and Britain, in the provinces of East Azerbaijan, Kerman and Mazandaran.
In a statement released on Saturday, the IRGC Intelligence Organization said the groups were engaged in networking, arming, spying, disrupting markets, smuggling goods, creating economic rumors and street riots in preparation for the US-Israeli war of aggression on Iran.
According to the statement, the intelligence apparatus of East Azerbaijan Province, in its second operation in recent days, identified and arrested seven elements affiliated with pro-monarchy terrorist groups.
Apart from carrying out armed and sabotage activities, these elements were sending the coordinates of sensitive places to their ringleaders.
In Mazandaran, the IRGC unit nabbed 69 people who were associated with the Zionist regime and carried out anti-state activities. Some firearms and cold weapons, as well as telecommunications equipment were also confiscated from their hideouts.
Separately, the IRGC announced the identification and arrest of 51 people, including main enemy elements, spies and media agents affiliated with the international terrorist network, during a coordinated operation in Kerman province.
The many of the detainees were said to have direct connections with foreign leaders, and were seeking to disrupt the market, recruit and organize mercenaries to create chaos and unrest in the province.
Since the US and Israeli-backed unrest in Iran followed by an unprovoked war, Iran's intelligence apparatus has detained hundreds of people over their nexus with American and Israeli spy networks and foreign-funded terrorist groups across the country.
