AhlulBayt News Agency: The commander of the Aerospace Force of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has warned about the enemy's attempts at spreading false narratives regarding the realities governing the Strait of Hormuz and Iran's rules concerning the strategic waterway.
In a social media post on Friday, Brigadier General Majid Mousavi honored the memory of Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri, former commander of the Corps' Navy, who was martyred during the United States' and the Israeli regime's latest bout of unprovoked aggression targeting the Islamic Republic.
Mousavi hailed the martyr as "the architect of the new order in the Strait of Hormuz."
Prior to his martyrdom, the commander famously ordered closure of the waterway to enemies and their allies as part of the Islamic Republic's retaliation against the aggressors.
Donald Trump announced a two-week lull in attacks on Iran on April 7 after the closure sent shockwaves throughout global energy markets, including in the US, where skyrocketing gas prices contributed further to the US president's unpopularity.
The announcement also came after at least 99 waves of decisive and successful retaliatory strikes by Iran's Armed Forces against sensitive and strategic American and Israeli targets across the region.
Also on Friday, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced the reopening of the strait following the implementation of a ceasefire in Lebanon. The Islamic Republic had identified the ceasefire as an indivisible part of a 10-point proposal it had forwarded prior to Trump's announcement.
Reacting to the announcement, Trump took to his Truth Social platform, alleging that Iran had "agreed to never close the Strait of Hormuz again." He also claimed that the United States' "naval blockade will remain in full force and effect as it pertains to Iran, only, until such time as our transaction with Iran is 100% complete." Trump additionally said that ceasefire negotiations "should go very quickly in that most of the points are already negotiated."
Iran has categorically refuted Trump's claims, asserting that the strait was only open to commercial vessels, which would be allowed to transit through only a designated route and with Iran’s authorization.
Remarking on the issue, Majlis (Parliament) Speaker, Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf noted in a post on X that "whether the strait remains open or closed, and the rules governing it, will be determined on the battlefield." He also stressed that the waterway would not remain open if the US maintained the blockade.
Elsewhere in his post, Mousavi underscored, "The IRGC Aerospace Force remains distrustful of the enemy, with its finger on the trigger and in full readiness to defend Iran."
