Society of Seminary Teachers of Qom Condemns the Persecution of Shia Muslims in the Persian Gulf Countries

The Society of Seminary Teachers of Qom issued a statement reacting to the harassment and persecution of Shia Muslims based on false accusations by some rulers of the Persian Gulf countries.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The Society of Seminary Teachers of Qom issued a statement reacting to the harassment and persecution of innocent Shia Muslims by some rulers of the Persian Gulf countries and strongly condemned these actions.

The statement reads: "With great regret and sorrow, we have received news of the harassment and persecution of religious scholars and the desecration of religious authorities by the rulers of some Persian Gulf countries, accusing them of false charges such as treason. Unfortunately, the rulers of these countries have not only embraced American bases but are also cowardly carrying out missile and mortar attacks on Iran's border cities."

The statement adds, "The harassment and persecution of innocent Shia Muslims, honorable Muslims, and brilliant scholarly figures in Kuwait and Bahrain, the insults to Shia Muslims and their religious rites, rituals, and sanctities, and the imprisonment and torture of thousands of innocent men and women by these governments are not issues that can be easily overlooked. Unfortunately, according to received reports, the number of female prisoners has reached over two hundred and forty honorable women, and the number of male prisoners has reached four thousand honorable and innocent believers."

The statement continues, "Should Muslims who wear mourning clothes for the martyrdom of their religious authority and leader, or who place the verse 'Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return' on their homes, be tortured, imprisoned, and harassed?! Is this disgraceful servitude to arrogance and trust in the Great Satan, the US, and alignment with the wicked Zionists in the interest of these rulers and the Persian Gulf countries?! The Islamic community and the great Ummah of Islam will not pass by these crimes without reaction, nor will it be indifferent to the shedding of the blood of the oppressed and the insult to the scholars of Islam."

The statement said, "The image of the tortured body of the oppressed and believing young man, the eulogist of AhlulBayt (a.s.), the martyred Sayyed Mohammad Mousavi in Bahrain, will not be forgotten, and this blood will scatter the dynasty of the oppressors. Furthermore, the blatant violation of the respected home of the great scholar Ayatollah Sheikh Hussein Ma’touq, the arrest of his honorable sons and daughters, and the torture of his other son in prison by the Kuwaiti government on completely false charges are extremely regrettable and are strongly condemned."

The statement concluded, “The Society of Seminary Teachers of Qom, while expressing deep sympathy for all those affected and bereaved by these incidents, declares its intense revulsion toward the violation of the sanctity of believing families, the desecration of scholars, and the harassment, imprisonment, and torture of Muslims.”
