AhlulBayt News Agency: In the wake of the Zionist regime’s relentless and savage aggression against Lebanon, one of the most eminent sources of emulation in the Shiite world, Grand Ayatollah Naser Makarem Shirazi, has issued a powerful statement condemning the atrocities and calling on Muslim nations, global freedom-seekers, and Islamic governments to stand by the defenseless people of Lebanon and their courageous Hezbollah resistance movement.
In the wake of the Zionist regime’s relentless and savage aggression against Lebanon, one of the most eminent sources of emulation in the Shiite world, Grand Ayatollah Naser Makarem Shirazi, has issued a powerful statement condemning the atrocities and calling on Muslim nations, global freedom-seekers, and Islamic governments to stand by the defenseless people of Lebanon and their courageous Hezbollah resistance movement.
Condemnation of heinous crimes
In his message, Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi expressed profound sorrow and outrage over the “brutal and heartbreaking” attacks carried out by the Israeli regime against parts of Lebanon—attacks that have so far martyred and wounded hundreds of innocent civilians, including women and children.
“There is no doubt that this regime, which adheres to no human principles, has committed crimes by targeting hospitals, vital infrastructure, and civilian centers—crimes that deeply wound the conscience of every free human being,” the statement read.
A call to action for the Muslim world and beyond
The revered cleric urged Muslim nations, freedom-loving people across the globe, and Islamic governments to support the defenseless population of Lebanon and their “brave and resilient” Hezbollah fighters.
“Past experiences have clearly shown that any hesitation or compromise in the face of aggression only paves the way for its repetition and intensification,” Ayatollah Makarem warned, drawing lessons from decades of Israeli violations across the region.
He emphasized that silence in the face of such blatant state terrorism is not neutrality—it is complicity.
Iran’s humanitarian and Islamic duty
The grand ayatollah also called on the relevant authorities and institutions of the Islamic Republic of Iran to continue their long-standing humanitarian and Islamic mission to alleviate the suffering of the oppressed Lebanese people.
“It is expected that the officials and relevant bodies of the Islamic Republic of Iran—just as in the past—will, within the framework of their human and Islamic duties, make every effort to reduce the suffering and support the oppressed people of Lebanon,” he said.
Condolences and prayers
At the conclusion of his message, Ayatollah Makarem offered his condolences to Imam Mahdi (PBUH), the twelfth Shia Imam, on this tragic and painful loss.
He prayed for the exalted ranks of the martyrs, the swift recovery of the wounded, and patience and divine reward for the grieving families.
“Peace, mercy, and blessings of God be upon you all,” the statement ended.
Context: A widening assault
The latest Israeli bombardment has targeted densely populated residential areas, medical facilities, and critical infrastructure across southern and eastern Lebanon, killing hundreds and displacing tens of thousands. International humanitarian organizations have voiced alarm over the disproportionate and indiscriminate nature of the strikes.
Hezbollah has responded with retaliatory rocket fire against Israeli military positions, vowing to continue its resistance in defense of Lebanese sovereignty and Palestinian rights.
Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi’s message is not merely a religious sentiment—it is a political and moral directive: the ummah and the world’s free peoples must break their silence and act, or witness even greater catastrophes.
