AhlulBayt News Agency: Senior Shia authority Grand Ayatollah Vahid Khorasani has described Imam Mahdi (peace be upon him) as the divinely appointed custodian of all heavenly and earthly treasures, emphasizing the unparalleled metaphysical rank of the Imam of the Age.
Speaking on the occasion of Mid-Sha‘ban, which marks the birth anniversary of Imam Mahdi (may God hasten his reappearance), Ayatollah Vahid Khorasani stated that the Awaited Imam is not merely a future reformer, but a central cosmic reality in the divine order of existence.
“Imam Mahdi (peace be upon him) is the very personality who holds the keys to the treasures of the heavens and the earth,” the senior cleric said. “He is the trustee of the treasures of all the prophets and messengers.”
Custodian of the Hidden Treasures of Creation
Ayatollah Vahid Khorasani further stressed that all concealed and latent realities of the unseen realm are, by divine decree, entrusted to Imam Mahdi.
“All the hidden jewels of the treasury of the unseen throughout the entire cosmos are in the hands of the Imam of the Age,” he said, underscoring the belief that the Imam’s authority transcends time and space and encompasses both the material and metaphysical realms.
According to Shia theology, the Imam is not only a guide for humanity but also a divinely appointed guardian of God’s knowledge and wisdom, serving as the living link between heaven and earth.
A Central Figure in Divine Continuity
The remarks reflect a core Shia belief that Imam Mahdi inherits the spiritual legacy of all previous prophets and messengers, acting as the final bearer of their trust and mission. In this understanding, the Imam’s role is not confined to a future reappearance, but is active and continuous, sustaining the moral and metaphysical order of the world by God’s permission.
Ayatollah Vahid Khorasani’s statement highlights that the concept of awaiting is not passive, but rooted in recognition of the Imam’s living presence and comprehensive authority.
Mid-Sha‘ban is observed across the Muslim world as a night and day of devotion, prayer, and reflection, marking the birth of the Imam who, according to Islamic belief, will one day reappear to establish justice and equity across the earth after it has been filled with oppression.
