Consequences of the War Against Iran in West Africa / Senegal Declares State of Alert

Following an unprecedented surge in oil prices as a result of the war against Iran, the Senegalese government has initiated emergency measures.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The Senegalese government has halted all unnecessary foreign travel by ministers and senior officials and has warned of very difficult times ahead. This decision comes in the wake of a sharp increase in global oil prices due to the U.S. and Israeli war against Iran, which has placed additional pressure on the indebted country's budget.

According to a report by Al Arabiya, Iran's effective closure of the strategic Strait of Hormuz and the escalation of military tensions in the region have caused severe disruption in global energy markets.

Meanwhile, the price of Brent crude has reached approximately $115 per barrel, a figure nearly double the price forecast in Senegal's budget ($62 per barrel). This has threatened price stability within Senegal and increased the cost of fuel and essential goods for the country's citizens.
