ABNa24 - The military aggression by the criminal regimes of the US and Israel against the Islamic Republic has triggered a coordinated and widespread wave of condemnation among governments, state institutions, and political movements across Latin America; a region that, drawing on its historical legacy of struggle against imperialism, while expressing solidarity with Tehran, has called the attacks a clear violation of national sovereignty, the United Nations Charter, and a serious threat to global peace and security.
Recent developments and the escalation of military tensions have once again turned Latin America into a scene of coordinated political reactions in defense of the principles of national sovereignty and opposition to foreign intervention.
Meanwhile, Cuba, with its deeply rooted anti-imperialist discourse, issued a series of statements and official positions strongly condemning the US and Zionist regime’s attacks against Iran and calling for their immediate halt.
Cuba’s Foreign Ministry, in a statement condemning the US-Zionist attacks, termed them as a blatant violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Islamic Republic of Iran and a blatant breach of the United Nations Charter and international law, emphasizing the need to prevent further escalation in the region.
The country’s foreign minister, in a phone call with his Iranian counterpart, strongly condemned the military aggression by the United States and the Zionist regime against the Islamic Republic and, while expressing Havana’s full solidarity with Tehran, stressed the need to adhere to the principles of national sovereignty and respect for international law.
In the same vein, the president of Cuba’s National Assembly of People’s Power, Esteban Lazo Hernández, and the institution’s International Relations Committee, while condemning this aggression, identified the United States and the Zionist regime as the main threat to global peace.
At the level of civil institutions, the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) also issued a statement strongly condemning the joint military attacks against Iran and, while declaring its firm solidarity with the Iranian people and all innocent victims of this imperialist and irresponsible military act, called for immediate action by the international community to contain this trend.
Brazil
The scope of these reactions has extended to other countries in the region as well. In Brazil, the government and senior officials adopted clear positions condemning the military attacks against Iran and warning of their dangerous consequences.
An official statement by the Brazilian government emphasized that this action took place while the path of diplomacy and dialogue was still ongoing. The country’s president, criticizing unilateral approaches, described these developments as a serious threat to international peace and security and warned about their trans-regional effects on global energy supply chains and food security.
The foreign minister, in a phone call with his Iranian counterpart, also condemned the attacks and stressed the necessity of respecting national sovereignty and the fundamental principles of international law.
Domestically, political parties including the Workers’ Party (PT - Partido dos Trabalhadores) and the Brazilian Communist Party (PCB - Partido Comunista Brasileiro) issued aligned positions condemning the attacks, describing them as based on “unrealistic justifications” for military intervention and emphasizing Iran’s right to legitimate defense.
Colombia
In Colombia, the country’s president, condemning the aggressions, described them as a “massive” threat to humanity and called for an immediate ceasefire.
Chile
At the same time, the Chilean government and the Communist Party of Chile also condemned the US and Israeli aggressions. The PCCh, in a statement, warned that such actions not only endanger the stability of a single country but also pose a serious threat to the security of the entire region and even the international system, and could push the world toward a critical stage in terms of global peace.
Venezuela
In Venezuela, the “Fuerza Patriótica Alexis Vive” described the attacks in explicit terms, condemning them as part of a continuous chain of imperialist aggressions against independent nations. It emphasized that the Iranian people, by standing against this aggression, are defending their historical right to independence and to live without foreign interference; a stance that, in the view of this movement, represents the manifestation of dignity and anti-imperialist resistance against global domination.
Peru
Similarly, in other countries of the region, comparable and aligned reactions emerged condemning the US and Israeli attacks. In Peru, the leftist coalition “Venceremos” called the attacks a threat to regional and global peace and called for their immediate halt.
Ecuador
The Communist Party of Ecuador also rejected any justification based on an “imminent threat,” emphasizing that imperialist powers have always concealed their hegemonic objectives under the guise of security and humanitarian concepts.
In the Dominican Republic, the Communist Party of Labor (PCT - Partido Comunista del Trabajo) described this aggression as a continuation of the policy of “gunboat diplomacy” by US imperialism and identified it as a primary source of global instability.
Uruguay
The Communist Party of Uruguay (PCU), condemning the military aggressions against Iran, stated that such actions undermine all efforts toward the peaceful resolution of disputes.
Mexico
The Mexican government, based on its traditional position, emphasized the need to reduce tensions and resolve the crisis politically, calling for peace.
Overall, this coordinated wave of official and political positions in Latin America indicates the emergence of a unified voice against interventionist and unilateral policies; a voice that, grounded in the historical legacy of struggle against imperialism, stresses the necessity of respecting national sovereignty, adhering to international law, and preserving global peace and security, while warning about the dangerous consequences of continuing such approaches.
Within this framework, recent reactions can be interpreted as going beyond temporary positions; a sign of the redefinition of Latin America’s role in global equations, where the region seeks, drawing on its political legacy, to play an independent voice in defense of multilateralism, international law, and the need to contain escalating tensions.
The joint military aggression by the United States and Israel against the Islamic Republic of Iran, following which Ayatollah Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, was martyred, began on February 28, 2026, while indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States were underway with the mediation of some regional countries.
The United States and Israel, by attacking civilian infrastructure and the people of Iran, have violated international law, especially international humanitarian law; these attacks constitute a war crime and have also targeted officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran with their overt state terrorism in violation of all international laws.
The Islamic Republic of Iran, within the framework of its right to legitimate defense, has also targeted military and security positions of Israel in various cities of occupied Palestine, as well as bases and deployment centers of US forces in the region, with missile, drone, and air strikes.
