AhlulBayt News Agency: Iran’s embassy in London has reacted to a politically motivated statement jointly issued by some Western countries about the Strait of Hormuz, calling on them to condemn the aggressors – the US and Israel – not Iran.
“If you have courage and fairness, it is better to condemn the regimes of the United States and Israel instead of condemning Iran, as they started the war and now its consequences are affecting everyone,” the Iranian embassy said in a post on X on Wednesday.
“Iran is merely acting in legitimate self-defense,” the embassy added, urging the Western countries to recognize Iran’s right to defend itself.
In a joint statement on March 19, some Western countries condemned the limitations imposed by Iran over the Strait of Hormuz in response to attacks against its territory by the United States and Israel.
The Islamic Republic of Iran has stressed that the waterway is open to all vessels except those belonging to the aggressors and their allies.
