AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Nabih Berri, Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, and Sheikh Ahmad Qabalan, the Ja’fari Mufti of Lebanon, rejected the decision issued by the country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs to revoke approval for the appointment of Mohammad Reza Sheibani as the ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Lebanon and to declare him persona non grata. They called for the ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Lebanon not to leave Lebanese soil.
Hassan Alia, a prominent Lebanese journalist, wrote in a post regarding the stance of Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri on the decision by the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, “Nabih Berri, Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, told the Iranian ambassador to Lebanon, ‘It is forbidden for you to leave the country.’ Nabih Berri also told Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, ‘The decision to expel the Iranian ambassador will never be implemented, nor will it be treated as a fleeting decision that can be accepted under any circumstances’.”
Sheikh Ahmad Qabalan, the Ja’fari Mufti of Lebanon, also issued a statement requesting that the Iranian ambassador to Lebanon not leave the country.
In this statement, he emphasized, “We will not allow adventurist powers to sacrifice Lebanon politically and in terms of its sovereignty. Insisting on expelling the Iranian ambassador to appease Washington means striking at Lebanon's interests. Lebanon is not an abandoned farm, and its interests are not determined by foreign subservience.”
Additionally, sources told Al-Hadath network that Hezbollah and the Amal Movement in Lebanon have asked the Iranian ambassador to the country to reject the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs' request to leave.
The Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced today, Tuesday, that the country's diplomatic apparatus had decided to revoke its approval for the appointment of Mohammad Reza Sheibani as the ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Beirut. The Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs claimed that the reason for this action was a violation of diplomatic norms and established procedures between the two countries.
