AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): IPSP appeals to all justice-loving citizens to pressurise the BJP-ruled government into cancelling PM Modi’s planned visit to Israel and to demand that the Indian state sever all ties with the apartheid state!
In 2017, Narendra Modi became the first Indian Prime Minister to make an official visit to the terrorist Israeli state, underlining his position as an enemy of the Palestinian national liberation struggle. Nine years later, following several business deals that have served the interests of the Israeli and Indian ruling classes, genocidal Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu is set to welcome the fascist to the apartheid state once again.
The Indian state has increasingly promoted official engagements with Israel since the early 1990s, following the then Congress-ruled government’s adoption of neoliberal policies. However, it is after 2014 when a marked policy shift and a blatant embrace of the Zionist state came to the fore. Today, fast forward 12 years, the Indian government has become the biggest buyer of Israeli weapons and plays a crucial role in contributing towards the terrorist state’s economy.
Even after the inception of Israel’s most vicious, ongoing cycle of genocide in October 2023, the Indian government has wantonly upgraded its ties with the Zionist state. As proven by numerous engagements ranging from defense deals, free trade agreements, bilateral agreements and security cooperation treaties likely to be valued at over 10 billion USD in the coming years to policy changes to enable profitable joint ventures between Israeli companies and private Indian entities, the fascist BJP’s affinity for mollycoddling with terrorists is unmissable.
At a time when genocidal Israel has brutally murdered over 72000 Palestinians since late 2023 as per conservative estimates and has used prohibited weapons to make thousands of Palestinian bodies “evaporate” to ensure no traces of their existence, the fascist BJP’s growing proximity towards Israel outrightly reveals its true, inhuman character.
The ties between the Israeli and Indian governments in the defence and surveillance sectors is particularly noteworthy. The usage of Israeli spyware, Pegasus, by the BJP-ruled government to spy on dissenting politicians, journalists and activists is a striking example of how the fascist BJP leverages its ties with Israel to curb political dissent back home.
On the other hand, as collaborations like Tata Group’s partnership with the Israeli Aerospace Industries (IAI) to Adani Group’s joint venture with Israel’s Elbit Systems prove, these ties also enable the Indian capitalist class to rake up enormous profits at the expense of human rights and anti-colonial principles.
In simple words, the fascist BJP government is using resources funded by our taxes to fill the coffers of the Indian capitalist class and to economically aid a terrorist state!
Notably, recent years have also seen an increase in reports of racist discrimination and violence against Indian workers and citizens by Israeli settler communities in India, Israel and on social media platforms. Not only has the Modi government been silent in the face of these attacks on its own citizens, it has also proven itself completely capable of actively pushing thousands of helpless Indian youth to work in unsafe living conditions in Israel to hide its own failures in tackling rising domestic unemployment.
At the same time, peaceful protestors voicing against such acts and expressing solidarity with Palestine have been punished with state repression, mob violence and criminal cases.
Indeed, despite all talk of “support” for Palestinian statehood, the fascist Modi government’s actions blatantly expose its penchant for targeting pro-Palestinian voices while tolerating Israeli racism.
The ideological compatibility between Israel’s Zionism and the BJP’s Hindutva offers another explanation for the RSS-BJP’s inclination towards normalising Israeli terrorism. While Zionism and Hindutva communal fascism are subject to different historical trajectories and particularities, both the ideologies are underpinned by the fundamental compulsions of creating false enemies, refusing to recognise the humanity of an entire people and manufacturing victimhood.
Additionally, the forces of Hindutva have historically been on the side of imperialists, as its role in serving the British empire during the Indian freedom struggle proves. The BJP’s support for Israel settler-colonialism and its staunch opposition to Palestinian resistance, thus, is no cause for surprise. It’s business as usual!
Let it be known, however, that the fascist BJP’s stance is not representative of the views of the common masses in India. In contrast with the narrative that is fed to us, our interactions with common masses only affirm the view that the Indian masses outrightly oppose Israeli barbarism and stand with Palestine.
IPSP appeals to justice-loving masses from India to take inspiration from the anti-colonial struggle waged by revolutionaries like Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, Rajguru and their comrades, all of whom were committed internationalists, and stand by Palestinians in their fight for freedom.
