Modi Govt accused of complicity in Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza

Communist Party of India blasts Modi govt’s foreign policy, security failures, and economic inequality and calls for immediate severing of military ties with Israel.

AhlulBayt News Agency: In a scathing political charge-sheet against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] has accused the Narendra Modi-led government of complicity in Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza and intensifying efforts to divide Indian society along communal lines. It vehemently demanded that the government immediately stop the export of arms and cut military and security ties with Israel.

Concluding its three-day (June 3-5) Central Committee meeting in the national capital, the CPI(M) also announced a mass political campaign to expose what it termed as the authoritarian and opportunistic role of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), both during the Emergency era and in present-day India.

CPI(M) General Secretary MA Baby, addressing the media on Friday, said the party would mobilise people across the country to challenge the BJP-RSS combine’s attempts to exploit global conflict and domestic terror incidents for political gains.

“We are witnessing a regime that has surrendered India’s foreign policy to imperialist pressures and is using terrorism and war hysteria to deepen the communal divide at home,” Baby said.

In a strongly worded resolution, the CPI(M) condemned the ongoing Israeli military aggression in Gaza, describing it as a “genocidal campaign aimed at the complete destruction and annexation of Palestinian land.” The party criticised the Indian government for maintaining military and intelligence cooperation with Israel despite mounting civilian casualties.

“The BJP government must immediately halt the export of arms and sever all military and security ties with Israel,” Baby demanded. “Instead of standing firmly for the Palestinian people as per India’s long-standing foreign policy, the Modi regime has turned into an enabler of Zionist aggression, merely to please its global masters,” the resolution said.

The Central Committee announced that the entire party machinery would organise immediate nationwide protests against Israeli actions and the Indian government’s silence. “It is not only a question of foreign policy but of our moral and constitutional commitment to justice and human rights,” said Baby.

The CPI(M) accused the Modi government of undermining India’s independent foreign policy tradition, particularly in the Global South, by drawing closer to the United States and Israel. Referring to reports of pending trade and technology agreements, the party warned that Indian strategic autonomy was being sacrificed for crony capitalist interests.
