Foreign ministry strongly condemns European Parliament’s anti-Iran resolution

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran has vehemently condemned a resolution issued by the European Parliament containing unfounded and false claims regarding recent incidents in Iran, as well as meddlesome and irresponsible statements against Tehran.

AhlulBayt News Agency: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran has vehemently condemned a resolution issued by the European Parliament containing unfounded and false claims regarding recent incidents in Iran, as well as meddlesome and irresponsible statements against Tehran.

The European Parliament, many of whose members have been complicit in the gross violation of Iranians’ human rights — through means such as supporting the imposition of cruel sanctions, following the United States’ illegal sanctions on Iran, and conniving with the Israeli regime in its act of military aggression against Iran — most definitely lacks any moral credibility to preach on human rights issues, said the Foreign Ministry in a statement on Friday.

The catastrophic record of the European Parliament and that of several of its members regarding the genocide of Palestinians and the continuous law-breaking of the occupying regime in West Asia have left no credit for its claims about human rights and the rule of law, the statement read. The European Parliament’s approving silence towards the genocide in occupied Palestine and its disregard for crimes committed on the streets of Iran are two sides of the same coin, it added.

Now, the supporters of the regime, responsible for the massacre of tens of thousands of Palestinians, especially women and children, are attempting to accuse Iran and divert global public attention from Europe’s dual and irresponsible approach about the Israeli regime’s crimes, said the statement.

They do so by distorting realities and ignoring the clear role of the Israeli regime and the United States in orchestrating and instigating violence and the killing of the Iranian people, it noted.

The drafters of the European Parliament’s resolution have deliberately based their work on lies fabricated by Israeli media and warmongers in the United States, the statement underlined.

Despite documented evidence—including images, audio files, and field reports indicating that peaceful gatherings were turned violent by terrorist elements affiliated with the Israeli regime from January 8 to 10, 2026—they have, in a completely biased manner, repeated a series of stereotypical accusations against the security forces and legal entities of the Islamic Republic, it said.

By issuing a resolution that, in addition to spreading falsehoods and distorting facts, blatantly violates some of the most important principles of the UN Charter and fundamental rules of international law—particularly the principle of respect for national sovereignty and refraining from interference in and threats against other nations—the European Parliament has once again proved its disbelief in the rule of law, it added.

The Islamic Republic, while emphasizing the preservation of the fundamental rights of its people in accordance with its constitution and international legal obligations, deems it its duty to safeguard the security of its citizens, public order, and national sovereignty against any act of terrorism, foreign threat, and interference, the statement said.

Denouncing the offensive statements in the European Parliament’s resolution regarding Iran’s officials and legal institutions, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that any unlawful and meddlesome decision or position concerning the armed forces and security guardians of the Islamic Republic of Iran will be met with a reciprocal response, and the responsibility for its consequences will lie with its perpetrators.
