Saudi Arabia said again on Saturday it believes Yemeni Shia Muslims have links to the Wahhabi militant group al Qaeda, even though it acknowledged it had found no such evidence in combat.
"We have not noticed it on the battlefield, but it is proven by various bodies that there are contacts and coordination between them, and that they have common interests, which is sabotage," Prince Khaled bin Sultan, assistant minister of defense, said in remarks aired on state television.
He did not specify what that proof was.
The Shia fighters, known as Houthis after the clan name of their leaders, have denied previous such claims that it has ties to the Wahhabi terrorist group.
Saudi Arabia launched its assault on the Shia Muslims in an area near its border with Yemen in November and killed dozens.
