Iran blames US for backing Israeli assault and vows harsher response

Iran’s top military officials condemned the U.S. for supporting Israel’s June aggression, which killed over 900 civilians. Iran responded with Operation True Promise III, striking Israeli and American assets with new-generation missiles

AhlulBayt News Agency: A senior Iranian military official stated that the United States bears primary responsibility for the recent aggression against Iran.

Brigadier General Abolfazl Shekarchi, spokesman for the Iranian Armed Forces, told Al-Mayadeen Network on Monday, “We hold America primarily responsible for aggression against Iran.”

He added, “The enemies and this barbaric regime must recognize that they are up against 1.5 billion Muslims who will never surrender.”

Shekarchi affirmed that Iran does not initiate conflicts but responds forcefully. “We have consistently stated that we do not begin aggression, but when we are attacked, our response is devastating,” he said.

He remarked that the ceasefire only came into effect after Israeli forces suffered heavy losses inflicted by Iranian forces.

Shekarchi revealed that Iran inflicted notable damage on American military infrastructure at Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar.

“If our enemies are as democratic and transparent as they claim to be, let them reveal the scale of destruction they have caused,” he challenged.

In a strong warning, he declared, “Iranian forces are capable of even harsher retaliation and we are fully prepared to demonstrate this in action.”

In another interview with Defapress, Shekarchi emphasized Iran’s military readiness and warned that if Israel resumes aggression, it will face a powerful response.

On Friday, IRGC spokesman Brigadier General Ali Mohammad Naeini said Iran would abandon previous red lines should the Israeli regime launch another attack.

On June 13, Israel began a widely condemned military assault against Iran, targeting high-ranking military officials, nuclear scientists, and civilians.

Israeli strikes also hit military and nuclear facilities, as well as critical civilian infrastructure including the IRIB broadcasting building, hospitals, outreach centers, homes, and villages—resulting in massive civilian casualties.

The offensive caused over 900 civilian deaths.

Iranian forces, led by the IRGC, responded with Operation True Promise III—a large-scale retaliation using newly developed ballistic missiles and drones.

Hundreds of Iranian projectiles overwhelmed Israeli air defenses and struck vital military, intelligence, energy, and industrial sites across occupied Palestinian territories.

On June 24, the Israeli regime declared a unilateral end to hostilities, announced by U.S. President Donald Trump.
