AhlulBayt News Agency: The Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) reported that a nurse at one of its clinics in Gaza was martyred in a recent Israeli attack, raising the total number of PRCS medical personnel martyred since October 2023 to 50.
In a statement on Friday, PRCS identified the victim as Haitham Bassam Abu Issa, a nurse at its Deir el-Balah clinic, who was killed off duty on Thursday.
“This brings the total number of PRCS staff and volunteers killed during the conflict to 50 – a deeply shocking figure,” the organization said.
The humanitarian group Action Against Hunger also confirmed that two of its staff, Mohammed Hussein and Obada Abu Issa, were killed in an Israeli airstrike in a densely populated area of Gaza.
The charity noted that neither of the two aid workers was on duty during the Thursday attack.
Mohammed, aged 20, worked as an office guard and had hoped to renew his contract. The NGO described him as someone who “gave sincere support without asking for anything in return.”
Obada, aged 30, was a field assistant with the water, sanitation, and hygiene team. He is survived by his wife and two children.
Action Against Hunger called for the protection of civilians and humanitarian workers, and demanded an immediate and permanent ceasefire.
The organization affirmed its commitment to continue its mission in Gaza despite the ongoing Israeli attacks.
Israel launched its war on Gaza on October 7, 2023, following Operation Al-Aqsa Storm by Hamas-led resistance groups, which was a response to decades of Israeli oppression.
Since then, at least 56,331 Palestinians have been killed and 132,632 injured, according to health authorities.
Israel has also enforced a total blockade on Gaza, as part of a broader strategy to expel Palestinians from the besieged territory.
