AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): A ceremony marking the anniversary of the passing of Imam Khomeini (r.a.) was held in Accra, the capital of Ghana, with the presence of Ayatollah Reza Ramazani, Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly.
During the event, the Secretary-General presented the “Right Side of History” honorary award, on behalf of the Office for the Preservation and Publication of the Works of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, to two Ghanaian advocates of the Palestinian cause: Kusi Pratt Jr. and Dr. Jamal Nasser Adam.
Sayed Ali Qomiashi, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Ghana, and Abdulfattah Al-Sattari, Ambassador of Palestine to Ghana, joined Ayatollah Ramazani in conferring the awards. The ceremony was also attended by participants of 15 different nationalities from various faiths and denominations, along with African media professionals and local journalists.
Kusi Pratt Jr., a veteran Ghanaian journalist known for his steadfast support of the oppressed Palestinian people, was the first to receive the “Right Side of History” award during the ceremony.
The second recipient was Dr. Jamal Nasser Adam, a prominent academic and media figure in Ghana who has long served as a senior researcher at the Baraka Policy Institute.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Adam referred to the connection between the Islamic Revolution of Iran and the Palestinian struggle, stating, “The victory of the Islamic Revolution clearly proves that defeating imperialism is possible. This offers great hope to the fight for Palestinian freedom, which, despite immense challenges and great sacrifices, will ultimately triumph, so long as resistance, commitment to the struggle, and faith in God endure. I express this view first and foremost to thank the people of Iran for the sacrifices they have made over the years in support of the oppressed and downtrodden around the world.”
The distinguished Ghanaian media figure dedicated his award to the people of Palestine, noting, “I present this award, first and foremost, to the people of Palestine, especially the people of Gaza, and in particular, to the martyrs of that nation. I have no doubt that just as the Iranian Revolution triumphed over tyranny, the Palestinian struggle will likewise prevail over Zionist aggression and imperialism at large.”
It is worth noting that the “Right Side of History” is an honorary distinction awarded to individuals and organizations who have made meaningful efforts in supporting the oppressed, particularly in defense of the Palestinian cause. The award symbolizes resistance against injustice, a commitment to global justice, and the collective impact of influential figures within the global resistance axis opposing colonialism.
The award is presented annually in conjunction with the anniversary of the publication of the third letter by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution addressed to American students and academics. In June 2024, in his third letter addressed to American university students, who had been suppressed for protesting U.S. support for the Zionist regime, Ayatollah Khamenei emphasized that these youth stand on “the right side of history.”
