Saudi Arabia’s General Authority for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque reported over 12.9 million visitors to the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina before Hajj, with 666,580 visiting the Holy Rawdah.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Saudi Arabia’s General Authority for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque has reported extensive logistical and support services for pilgrims visiting the Prophet’s Mosque during the pre-Hajj period.

According to official figures, 12,914,153 people visited the mosque in Medina between the 15th of Dhul Qada and the 1st of Dhul Hijjah. During this time, 666,580 visitors were recorded at the Holy Rawdah, where the tomb of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is located.

The authority facilitated various services to support pilgrims, including transportation assistance for over 161,800 individuals, distribution of more than 301,800 Iftar meals, and supply of 218,336 bottles of Zamzam water. Total Zamzam consumption reached 3,360 tons.

Efforts to maintain hygiene and cleanliness were also emphasized. Approximately 312 tons of waste were collected, while over 41,000 liters of disinfectant and sterilizing solutions were used throughout the mosque complex. An additional 10,950 liters were deployed in surrounding areas.

To enhance the atmosphere inside the mosque, the authority used seven kilograms of incense and 39 liters of scented oils and perfumes.

These figures cover the period leading up to the Hajj pilgrimage, during which some 1.7 million Muslims traveled to Saudi Arabia to perform religious rites. The Prophet’s Mosque in Medina remains one of Islam’s holiest sites and a key destination for pilgrims before or after visiting Mecca.
