AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): At the conclusion of a specialized workshop on social efficiency in Dakar, the capital of Senegal, Ayatollah Ramazani, Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly highlighted the pivotal role of education in societal progress.
“Imam Khomeini (r.a.) was particularly sensitive about certain issues, one of the first being public literacy,” he said. “At the outset of the Islamic Revolution, only about 48 percent of the Iranian population was literate. It was essential to launch a nationwide literacy campaign, and today, over 90 percent of Iranians are literate; a truly remarkable achievement.”
Stressing the importance of entrepreneurship across Africa, Ayatollah Ramazani remarked, “By equipping people with vocational skills and job training, you can help alleviate some of the material hardships in your communities. We have 45 years of experience from the Islamic Revolution in Iran in this regard, and it’s a model that should be shared with Africa.”
He encouraged the establishment of charitable foundations, noting, “You can create an institution or a charity that provides for the needy in your region. It’s also possible to launch investments in this area, with the profits used to support religious missionaries and sustain their work.”
Concluding his remarks, Ayatollah Ramazani emphasized, “The Prophet of Islam (p.b.u.h) taught us to act upon our words and demonstrate the unity between speech and action. You are our brothers, and we are yours. We see it as our duty to assist you and to pass on all that we have learned.”
