Hamas calls for full ceasefire, Israeli withdrawal

Hamas spokesperson Jihad Taha has stated that the organization, in coordination with other resistance groups, is carefully evaluating a proposal put forth by Steve Witkoff, the United States’ Special Envoy to the Middle East.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Hamas spokesperson Jihad Taha has stated that the organization, in coordination with other resistance groups, is carefully evaluating a proposal put forth by Steve Witkoff, the United States’ Special Envoy to the Middle East.

According to the Palestinian Information Center, Taha expressed concerns that the plan lacks essential guarantees and fails to meet many of Hamas’ core demands. However, he reiterated Hamas’ willingness to consider any initiative that could lead to an end to the war and the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza.

According to IRNA, he emphasized that any agreement must include a complete ceasefire and a full Israeli military withdrawal from the Gaza Strip. Taha noted that the final version of Witkoff’s proposal does not provide immediate or phased assurances for halting hostilities.

Calling for urgent international action, Taha urged global organizations to declare a state of emergency to address the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

According to Wafa news agency, Israel’s military operations in Gaza have resulted in 54,321 deaths and 123,770 injuries since October 7, 2023.
