Israeli airstrike on Gaza kills over 50 Palestinians, many still missing

More than 50 Palestinians were killed or remain missing following an Israeli airstrike in northern Gaza. Israel continues its military operations, blocking food and medicine from entering the territory. International courts have issued war crime charges against Israeli leaders.

AhlulBayt News Agency: More than 50 Palestinians have been killed or remain missing following an Israeli air raid on a residential building in the Jabalia al-Balad area of northern Gaza, Palestinian Civil Defense sources reported.

Israeli drones struck more than five locations near the entrance to Deir al-Balah in central Gaza early Friday morning, according to Wafa, the official Palestinian news agency.

When civilians rushed to assist the wounded, Israeli forces launched a second attack, injuring several more Palestinians.

In a separate incident, an Israeli airstrike targeted an apartment near Abdel Aal junction on al-Jalaa Street in Gaza City, killing three people, including a young girl.

Another strike on a home in the western camp area of Khan Yunis in southern Gaza killed two siblings and critically injured their father.

In eastern Khan Yunis, several casualties were reported after Israeli forces struck a home in the town of Abasan al-Kabira.

Additionally, a 32-year-old man succumbed to injuries sustained during an earlier airstrike on Bani Suheila neighborhood, east of Khan Yunis.

Local sources stated that Israeli forces obstructed civil defense crews from extinguishing fires caused by the airstrikes.

Israel escalated its military operations over the weekend, vowing to defeat Hamas resistance fighters in Gaza.

For more than two months, Israel has blocked the entry of food, medicine, and essential goods into Gaza, where around 2 million Palestinians reside, while continuing airstrikes and ground invasions.

The Palestinian population in Gaza depends almost entirely on international aid, as Israeli attacks have destroyed most of the territory’s food production infrastructure.

Following weeks of denying food shortages, Israel has yielded to international pressure and permitted dozens of humanitarian aid trucks to enter Gaza, including those carrying baby food.

However, UN agencies argue that this assistance is vastly insufficient, falling far short of the 600 trucks per day that entered during a ceasefire and are required to meet basic humanitarian needs.

A spokesperson for the German government criticized Israel’s actions on Friday, calling the aid shipments "too little, too late."

Since October 7, 2023, at least 53,762 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have been killed, with another 122,197 injured in Israel’s ongoing military campaign in Gaza.

The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants last November for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Minister of Military Affairs Yoav Gallant, citing war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice over its actions in the besieged coastal territory.
