AhlulBayt News Agency: The meeting following the 14th session of the Ministers of Culture of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation was held on Thursday evening in Kazan. Rustam Minnikhanov welcomed representatives from Islamic countries and expressed his pleasure that Kazan has been designated as the cultural capital of the Islamic world for 2025.
He emphasized the importance of cultural dialogue in strengthening solidarity within the Islamic world. The theme of the meeting, "Dialogue of Cultures – The Basis for Preserving Identity and Diversity in a Multipolar World," highlighted how cultural interactions play a crucial role in maintaining religious identity while fostering peaceful coexistence.
Minnikhanov also noted the significance of holding this meeting alongside the International Economic Forum "Russia – The Islamic World: Kazan Forum." He stated that this event provides an opportunity for representatives from different fields to engage and build friendships within the cultural sector.
The President of Tatarstan highlighted the growing cooperation between Russia and Muslim countries and expressed his hope that these relations will continue to strengthen over time.
The head of the Islamic Culture and Communications Organization also spoke at the meeting, expressing satisfaction with Russia and Tatarstan’s active role in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. He stressed the importance of solidarity among Muslims, particularly in addressing global challenges and supporting Palestine against occupation and genocide.
Additionally, he emphasized the need for further studies on the evolving world order and encouraged collaboration between Muslim scholars and scientific institutions. He attributed Kazan’s selection as the cultural capital of the Islamic world to the leadership of Russia’s president and the political and religious authorities of Tatarstan.
In his concluding remarks, Hojjatoleslam Imani Pour discussed the BRICS alliance and its potential role in moving away from a unipolar global system in the future.
The meeting of the Ministers of Culture of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation took place on May 15 in Kazan, concurrently with the Kazan Forum. The head of the Islamic Culture and Communications Organization also held separate discussions with religious and cultural figures from Russia and other Islamic nations
