AhlulBayt News Agency: Nigeria is preparing to host an international Holy Quran competition, a prestigious event that aims to bring together Quran reciters from 20 countries. Organized by the Majalisu Ahlil Quran International Quranic Competition, this gathering is set to take place in August 2025. The competition will commence in Jos, Plateau State, with its grand finale scheduled in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Former federal lawmaker Hon. Muhammad Adam Alkali, who previously represented Bassa/Jos North in Plateau State, leads this initiative. In a recent preparatory meeting, he expressed appreciation for the unwavering support received from the Centre for Islamic Studies at Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto. He reaffirmed that the event seeks to promote Islamic unity and values, emphasizing the Quran as the guiding light for Muslims in their pursuit of a meaningful life.
The chairman of the organizing committee, Gwani Sadiq Zamfara, provided an update on the progress, ensuring that preparations are moving forward smoothly. According to Zamfara, the competition is not just a platform for showcasing Quranic mastery but also serves as an avenue for fostering intercultural exchange among Muslim communities worldwide.
Participants from various countries—including Nigeria, Cameroon, Ghana, Chad, Senegal, Kenya, Tanzania, Mauritania, Niger, Egypt, Morocco, Libya, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Malaysia, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States—are expected to compete in the prestigious event. With meticulous planning underway, organizers are committed to delivering a well-coordinated and successful competition that will leave a lasting impact on its attendees.
