US imposes new sanctions on Chinese, Iranian firms amid Nuclear talks

The United States has announced new sanctions targeting Chinese and Iranian firms and individuals, even as nuclear negotiations with Tehran continue.

AhlulBayt News Agency: The United States has announced new sanctions targeting Chinese and Iranian firms and individuals, even as nuclear negotiations with Tehran continue.

In a statement on Tuesday, the US Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) revealed sanctions against six entities and six individuals alleged to have aided Iran’s ballistic missile program by facilitating the procurement of sodium perchlorate and dioctyl sebacate—materials reportedly used in solid propellant rocket motors.

The sanctions list includes one Iran-based company, Saman Tejarat Barman Trading Company, and six associated individuals: Abed, Hamed, and Zahra Zargar, Forough Modarres, Abbas Pour Kazemi, and Mohammad Asgari. Additionally, five China-based companies—Shenzhen Amor, Dongying, Yanling Chuanxing Chemical Plant, China Chlorate Tech, and Yanling Lingfeng Chlorate—were identified in the designations.

According to Press TV, this marks the eighth round of US sanctions against Iran since February 4, when President Donald Trump launched a maximum pressure campaign. The measures come despite reportedly positive indirect nuclear talks held between Iran and the US in Muscat and Rome under Omani mediation.

The sanctions follow an explosion at Iran’s Shahid Rajaee Port, which some Western media speculated involved sodium perchlorate stored at the site. The Iranian Defense Ministry has strongly rejected these claims, asserting that the port has never been used for importing sensitive materials.
