(AhlulBayt News Agency) - The Bahraini authorities continued its siege in Diraz that has been imposed since over 4 months. The authorities also continued to prevent the Shia majority from performing their largest Friday prayer in the Imam Al-Sadiq mosque in Diraz.

Activists said that the authorities did not allow the Imam of Friday prayer to enter the village and prevented dozens of citizens from entering as well, under the pretext that they do not live in Diraz.

Worshipers performed the Friday prayer in Imam Al-Sadiq mosque separately (without being led by Imam). It is to mention that the Friday congregational prayer has been brought to a halt since 15 weeks.

The authorities have been imposing a siege on Diraz since over 4 months based on the open sit-in outside Sheikh Isa Qassim's house, protesting against the decision that revoked his citizenship.

Mass Protest

Protestors took to the street in mass protest after Friday prayer, condemning the prevention of Shia majority from holding their largest Friday prayer in the Imam Al-Sadiq mosque.

Protesters chanted anti-regime slogans, demanding to put an end to Al Khalifa monopoly over power and end discrimination practiced against Shia.

The imposed siege led to bringing Friday prayer to a halt as worshipers and Imam of Friday prayer were prevented from entering the village.
