AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): An expanded investigation by the US Daily Beast website revealed a role for US interrogators in committing torture along with their UAE counterparts in Yemeni jails.
The website stated that the testimony of two former detainees arrested by UAE nationals, confirming that at least one US interrogator was present during brutal torture, including beatings, electric shocks, rape and the use of vicious dogs.
Al Jazeera TV reported that the investigation pointed out that some of these investigators were wearing US military uniforms, and they are whispering to the UAE investigator who was carrying out these acts of torture.
The website quoted human rights activist Jennifer Gibson as saying that the accounts of these detainees confirm the importance of questions about the US involvement in torture operations run by allies of Washington.
The report pointed to the refusal of the US Central Command and the US Embassy in the UAE, as well as the Central Intelligence Agency, to answer questions on this issue.
In January, Human Rights Watch in the Arab World appealed to the United Nations to take urgent action to save the lives of detainees in the prisons of the UAE occupation in Aden.
