Prominent Lebanese Sunni cleric: “Takfiri ideology is American-Zionist plot”

A prominent Lebanese Sunni cleric warned against Takfiri (excommunication) threats in the world of Islam calling the denounced ideology as a American-Zionist plot to damage Islam.Sheikh Ahmad al Qattan, Head of Qolona wal-Amal (Say and Deed) Society, warned against Takfiri thoughts urging Shia and Sunni youths to avoid the intrigues set by excommunicators.He said He said,” Western policy is based on the principle of “Divide and Rule”; hence, their victory will not happen unless by dividing all Muslims particularly Shia and Sunni communities.”Sunni thinker referred to influence of Takfiri movements in Lebanon and noted,” What we witness from Takfiri thoughts, criminal operations and terrorist attacks are not planned in the country rather they are plots by the US and Zionist regime to undermine our Islamic and national unity.”He warned the political party that supports such heinous acts and stressed,” This political movement must be noted that they will be trapped by this support and they should learn from the crisis in countries like Syria and Iraq.” /129
