Beirut Friday Prayer: Hold on to the covenant of Allah

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The First SermonHis Eminence, Sayyed Ali Fadlullah, commenced the first sermon by defining the concept of going astray, explaining that in our contemporary world, there are many kinds of people who would lead us to this path; thus, we have to be cautious and careful all the time.We ought to spread awareness and focus on good morals, especially by means of education and upbringing at the level of both the family and the society.The parents should do their best to protect the young generation from what the media and the internet convey to them. They ought to teach the children that it is impossible for the line of Allah to coexist with that of the corruptors. The children should know that it is easier not to commit a sin than to repent. We should teach them to search for the truth, support the right, and practice their faith.However, the family’s effort may sometimes be insufficient as in the cases of drug addiction, sexual and moral deviation and others. Here is where the society should step in, having to establish various cultural, sport and scout institutions, as well as centers for teaching the Holy Quran. It is a big responsibility which needs a lot of effort and support especially by those who are well-off.The second sermonIn the second sermon, His Eminence, Sayyed Ali Fadlullah, started by describing the situation in Lebanon. He noticed that security, especially in Tripoli is unstable. On another level, the Sayyed noted that there are no parliamentary meetings or even a government at a time the economic and social crisis is worsening. He called on all parties, organizations, politicians, NGOs… etc., to voice their demand to end the state of vacuum and stillness the country is suffering from. The Sayyed also called for prosecuting all those who violated the security of the country regardless of their sects or positions. He also reminded the Lebanese of the Zionist threat, which remains the basic threat that faces their country.The Sayyed hoped that the efforts made to rid Syria of its sufferings, including Geneva II, would succeed. He urged all parties not to take their personal or sectarian interests into account, but those of the entire country, especially that Israel is committing more and more aggressions. The Sayyed hoped that the relief resulting from solving the Syrian question would extend to the neighbors of Syria, especially Iraq and Lebanon.In Yemen, he warned against the security and political troubles that are threatening to burst into a sectarian strife.He ended by calling for a unified Arab and Muslim stand from the aggressions the Zionists are committing in Palestine, which even include cutting olive trees./129
