Int’l Quds Day reminds world Muslims of their responsibility: scholar

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Professor Basir Ahmed, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) said that observation of Quds Day would help consolidate Muslim Ummah. Elaborating the significance of the day, the scholar quoting the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Imam Khomeini as saying that the Quds Day must be revived among the Muslims and be the starting point of their awakening and awareness.He said that by following Imam Khomeini’s ideology, Muslims of the world should regard the Quds Day as All-Muslims Day or the oppressed Peopleˈs Day. Basir stressed that the stances of Imam Khomeini should be taken as a strong support for the campaign of the liberation of the holy Quds and the Palestinian people to regain their denied rights.ˈIt is indeed a highly sentimental issue for Muslims all over the worldˈ, said Baseer. Adding that Quds Day is a memorable day in the history of the Palestinian movement. It reminds Arabs as well as other Muslims of their responsibilities toward the problems faced by the Muslim Ummah. He was of the view that the Muslim countries should practically show their support for the Palestinian cause, more importantly the liberation of First Qibla (the direction that Muslims face while praying), from the clutches of the Zionists. Indian academician maintained that the Muslim countries must exert their diplomatic pressure on Zionist regime to observe all United Nations resolutions and vacate Palestinian territories.Basir also invited the peace-loving, democratic and anti-imperialist Indian people who believe in justice and human dignity to come out and join the protest against the brutal and dastardly acts of the Zionist regime./149
