(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, inaugurating the 16th Summit of NAM today in Tehran, urged the participants of the summit to help improve NAM's 'political productivity' in global governance.
Talking to IRNA, Chaudhary Mateen Ahmed, MLA of Delhi Assembly said: 'Ayatollah Khamenei's call is highly significant in nature because at present the world, driven by the divisive forces, is seeing deaths and destruction. It is mandatory that NAM countries, under the chairmanship of Iran, unitedly work as a powerful force against those divisive forces for the promotion of global peace.'
'And this may not be possible without NAM's role in global governance, as NAM representing the large majority of humankind,' he added.
Acknowledging Ayatollah Khamenei’s call for the elimination of catastrophic weapons of mass destruction as an urgent necessity, Indian politician urged the world leaders to come clean and destroy all the weapons of mass destruction without any discrimination.
Mateen, wishing all success for the 16th Summit of NAM, urged the leaders of the grouping to prepare a framework which should have NAM's role in global governance. The framework, by keeping these divisive forces on bay, should establish world peace, he added.
