Deputy foreign ministers of Iran and Egypt discussed issues of mutual interests on the sidelines of the 16th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) here Thursday.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and Deputy Foreign Minister of Egypt Ramzy Ezeddin exchanged views on major bilateral, regional and international developments.

The two also discussed Tehran-Cairo cooperation at the international arena.

Ezeddin referred to the significant status of the Islamic Iran among regional states stressing that bilateral cooperation between the two capitals could help restore peace and instability to the region.

Earlier in the day, president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and his Egyptian counterpart Mohamed Mursi held talks. This was the first time that the presidents of the two countries met after the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran.
