As we are approaching the 17th anniversary of the Srebrenica massacre on 11th July 1995, the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Prof.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, deplored the recent statement made by new Serbian President denying genocide in Srebrenica.

Recalling the final and binding verdicts of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, the Secretary General referred to the declaration issued by the Serbian parliament in March 2010 and pointed out that the declaration was an important step toward reconciliation between the peoples of Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Prof Ihsanoglu reiterated the OIC’s position in supporting initiatives aiming at consolidating the culture of peaceful coexistence in the Balkans region. He pointed out that denying facts and realities on the ground would be certainly detrimental to the efforts to promote stability and reconciliation in the region.
