Khaled Al-Islambouli was defending honour of Islamic nation when he assassinated former Egyptian president Anwar Sadat in 1982, his mother tells Iranian news agency.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The mother of Khaled Al-Islambouli – the army officer who assassinated Egyptian mercenary President Anwar Al-Sadat in 1981 – has expressed pride in her son during an interview with Iranian Fars news agency.

"I am very proud that my son killed Anwar Al-Sadat," said Mrs Qadriya, 85. "[The government] called him a terrorist, a criminal, and a murderer, but they didn’t say that was he was defending Islam. They didn’t say anything about the oppressed people in Palestine, about Camp David, or how Sadat sold out the country to the Jews and violated the honour of the Islamic nation."

Islambouli was executed in 1982 for his role in the assassination.

Mrs Qadriya said she was proud to see the street named after her son in Tehran.

Al-Islambouli admired Iran, Mrs Qadriya added. She was greatly affected by its Islamic revolution and hoped the same would happen across the Arab world. He loved Iran.

She said all the Egyptian nation hate Israel and America and will stand by Iran, because they are Muslims.

She said Iran defending the word of Allah (La Ilah'a Illa Alah) so not US nor Israel can harm Iran, Iranians are under the God's protection.

She added I am very proud that the brave Egyptian conquered the Israel embassy after 30 years. When I went to the Tahrir square, masses of people warmly congratulated and welcomed me.

At the end she strongly said "I prod to my son, Khaled's pattern was Imam Ali (pbuh)".
