(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - “The Islamic awakening is faced with the danger of igniting sectarian war by enemies,” quoted Ali Akbar Velayati, foreign policy advisor to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, as saying on Saturday.
“Enemies, including the US, are trying to mount political, military and economic pressure on Muslims, divide Muslim countries, impose war and collapse popular governments to prevent Muslims from making more progress,” he added.
However, inspired by the Islamic Republic, the Islamic awakening frustrated policies of arrogant powers, the top Iranian official went on to say.
Velayati stated that the Islamic Revolution opened a new horizon and gave a new birth to humanity through challenging “vein theories” developed by the United States and its allies.
He called on Muslims to be vigilant in order to play an active role in the international scene and prepare the ground for developing Islamic ideals across the world. In recent months, a wave of revolutions and anti-government uprisings has swept across the Arab world.
In January, a revolution in Tunisia ended the 23-year rule of former President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali.
In February, another revolution led to the ouster of former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak after three decades of authoritarian rule. Both dictators were firmly backed by the US and most other Western countries.
Revolutions have also begun in Libya, Yemen, and Bahrain, while anti-government demonstrations have been held in Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Oman, and Algeria.
