Syrian President invited representatives from twelve Kurdish parties for talks.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Turkish daily Today’s Zaman reported Tuesday that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad invited representatives from twelve Kurdish parties for talks.

“The parties accepted Assad's invitation,” the daily added.

“The Kurdish representatives are expected to propose the establishment of a Kurdish autonomous region near the border with Turkey during the meeting.”

However, the paper said that it is unknown when the sit-down will occur.

Syrian Kurds have protested regularly on Fridays since demonstrations against the Syrian regime began in mid-March.
