(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The Iranian embassy in Lebanon marked on Wednesday the 22nd anniversary for the departure of the leader of the Islamic Revolution in Iran Imam Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini (June 3 1989).
Commemorating the departure of the Imam, who led Iran’s 1979 Islamic revolution, Lebanese politicians and officials gathered at the UNESCO Palace in Beirut where they announced commitment to the leader’s values and principles.
The Iranian ambassador Ghadanfar Rukn Abadi was the first to address the ceremony, where he announced his country’s full support to the Lebanese and Palestinian people in the face of the Israeli enemy. He noted that the Israeli enemy and his sponsors were concerned with the people’s movements in the region, especially in Egypt.
“We’re before a golden opportunity to unify our nations in support of our causes, at the top of which comes the Palestinian cause,” Abadi said. He highlighted that unity was in fact the secret of the victory.
He also pointed that the victory achieved by the Islamic Resistance in Lebanon in 2000 was the first Arab victory made thanks to the Resistance Mujahideen’s sacrifices. “Yet, the greatest victory was achieved in 2006 when the Resistance put an end to the Zionist enemy’s dreams of sedition and division,” he added.
AMAL official Khalil Hamdan then delivered Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri’s speech. He stressed that the Iranian revolution’s victory entered the region in a new decade. While noting that stability in Lebanon was in the interest of the stability in Syria, he warned against seeking to create sedition in Syria. He said that the American-European agenda was seeking to isolate Syria and push it to abandon its Arab and regional role, and therefore to abandon Iran and the Resistance. He also said that Lebanon was strong through its army, people and resistance.
The speech of Maronite Patriarch Beshara Rahi was delivered by the head of the Catholic Center for Information Abdo Abou Kessem who said that Imam Khomeni represented the hero with all the senses of the word. He stressed the necessity to give priority to the national higher interest and ignore foreign interests. He called for unity and partnership.
The speech of Grand Mufti Sheikh Mohamad Rashid Qabbani was delivered by his representative Sheikh Ahmad Darwish Kurdi who stressed that the victory of the nation was very imminent and that Palestine will be liberated. “We will only accept our full right in the land of Palestinian and we will not accept any compromise,” he said, while also warning that the Israeli enemy was seeking to delete the right of return to the land real owners, the Palestinians.
