Saudi Shia in the city of Hofuf in Al Ahsa Province (Eastern region of Saudi Arabia) demonstrated peacefully, called for the release of Sheikh Tawfiq Al-Amer, who was arrested after his call for a constitutional monarchy.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Saudi Shia in the city of Hofuf in Al Ahsa Province (Eastern region of Saudi Arabia) demonstrated peacefully, called for the release of Sheikh Tawfiq Al-Amer, who was arrested after his call for a constitutional monarchy.

About 300 young people in the city of Hofuf started the march from the mosque of Baqi heading to the headquarters of Al-Ahsa province.

During the march protesters raised the pictures of Sheikh Amer and called for his release. demonstrators chanted "people want the release of Sheikh Tawfiq" "peaceful .. peaceful...."

According to eyewitnesses security forces surrounded the headquarters of Al-Ahsa province and did not come into contact with demonstrators.

Hundreds of people in Al-Ahsa and Qatif issued a statement which have shown solidarity with Sheikh Tawfiq Al-Amer, demanding the Saudi authorities for his immediate release.
