“Iraqi army personnel found the mass grave in al-Intissar neighborhood, eastern Mosul,” Col. Emadeddin Abdulkareem, the director of the 2nd Division Command’s civilian and military affairs department, told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
“The victims had been killed during military operations that took place after the year 2003. So far their identities could not be detected,” he said.
“The army forces are still searching for the remains of other dead people,” he added, not giving further details.
Mosul, the capital city of the unrest-stricken multi-ethnic province of Ninewa, lies 405 km north of Baghdad.
