Kuwait will host the first international Quran competition for the hearing-impaired of the PGCC countries.

According to Al-Ray daily, the contest will be organized by the Al-Islah cultural-social institute with the cooperation of Kuwait-based Al-Raya Company.

Quran reciters from member countries of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman and Bahrain) will participate at the event.

Adnan Al-Haddad, a member of the Al-Raya Company, said Quran experts from the six countries will oversee the competition.

He said that six Quran reciters from each of the member countries will attend the contest, which will be held in two sections for men and women.

Mr. Al-Haddad added that competition aims to encourage the hearing impaired to read the Quran and promote their participation in social affairs.
