Sheikh Zakzaky: Martyr Imam Khamenei Embodies Imam Hussain’s Path

Nigerian cleric Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky says Leader Ayatollah Khamenei embodied Imam Hussain’s teachings in life and martyrdom.

ABAN24 - Nigerian cleric Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky says Leader Ayatollah Khamenei embodied Imam Hussain’s teachings in life and martyrdom.

The remarks reinforce ideological continuity between the Islamic Revolution and the legacy of Ashura, strengthening the resistance narrative across the Muslim world.

Commemorations marking 40 days since the martyrdom of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ali Khamenei, have drawn widespread reactions across the resistance front, highlighting his role as a unifying figure against what is described as oppression and global arrogance led by the U.S. and Israel.

Ibrahim Zakzaky described the Martyr Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, as a “living embodiment” of Imam Hussain's teachings.

He said the Leader lived a life of struggle from childhood until his martyrdom at the age of 86, adding that his destiny for martyrdom had been divinely delayed for decades to fulfill his historic mission.

Zakzaky emphasized that Martyr Ayatollah Khamenei’s life and martyrdom mirrored the path of Imam Hussain, presenting him as a model for contemporary Muslim societies.

He also highlighted the Leader's simplicity, piety, and wisdom, describing him as a fatherly figure who exemplified Islamic governance and moral leadership.

Zakzaky stressed that Ayatollah Khamenei continued the path of Ruhollah Khomeini, noting that his leadership represented a continuation of the Islamic Revolution’s core principles.

Zakzaky pointed to global recognition of Ayatollah Khamenei’s leadership, recalling that Nelson Mandela once regarded him as a source of inspiration.

He added that oppressed nations should follow such leadership rather than attempt to replicate it, emphasizing the need for unity and adherence to the resistance path.

The legacy of Imam Hussain and the events of Ashura remain central to the ideological foundation of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Khamenei’s leadership is widely viewed within the resistance front as a continuation of that legacy, combining political authority with religious guidance to confront injustice and defend oppressed nations.

Such narratives continue to shape resistance movements across West Asia and beyond, reinforcing a transnational identity rooted in sacrifice, steadfastness, and opposition to global dominance.
