U.S. Acceptance of Ceasefire is a Clear Strategic Defeat - Velayati

ABNA24 - The Senior Advisor to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution for International Affairs stated that the United States was forced to accept a ceasefire, a reality he described as a "clear strategic defeat" for Washington.

Ali Akbar Velayati wrote on his X account: "The United States was compelled to accept a ceasefire; a fact that reflects an obvious strategic failure."

He emphasized that the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran remain at their highest level of readiness, just as they were on the first day of the conflict. "Any miscalculation by the Hebrew-Arab-American front in violating the ceasefire will be met with a decisive and deterrent response," Velayati warned.

The Senior Advisor further highlighted Iran's evolving role in the global arena, noting: "In the new geometry of world power and the transition toward a multipolar order, Iran is no longer merely a country; it now functions as the core axis of the Islamic pole."

This statement follows the agreement between Iran and the United States in the early hours of Wednesday to establish a two-week ceasefire and resume negotiations based on Iran’s 10-point proposal, following 40 days of conflict and mediation by Pakistan.

The ceasefire was officially approved by both the U.S. President and Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC), taking effect at 3:30 AM Wednesday, April 8, 2026, Tehran time (8:00 PM Tuesday, April 7, Eastern Time).

The Secretariat of the SNSC has announced that high-level negotiations between the Iranian and American delegations will commence on April 10 (Farvardin 21) in Islamabad, Pakistan.
