AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Pakistan's Dawn News published an editorial titled "Trump's Threats and the Diplomatic Impasse in the Iran Crisis." This editorial, taking a critical look at the U.S. approach toward Iran, emphasizes that continuous threats and insults from the U.S. administration will not lead Iran to accept an agreement but could instead strengthen the country's resolve to resist, especially given that Iran has been able to withstand U.S. and Israeli military pressure. This very issue has seriously challenged the prospects for the success of diplomatic solutions.
The editorial states, "In the recent press conference of the U.S. president, few details were provided about the future course of the conflict with Iran, and the president continued to issue threats alongside hints of a possible diplomatic solution. This press conference followed his posts on social media—posts that, according to the editorial, were extremely harsh and unconventional even by his previous standards, containing insulting language and mockery of Islam." The majority of the press conference was devoted to operations inside Iran, in which, according to U.S. sources, two American soldiers were rescued, and U.S. officials described this action as a major success.
The editorial added, "However, the important point that emerged from this press conference was that Trump's deadline for Iran regarding the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz remains in place. He warned that if Tehran does not take this action by early Wednesday (Pakistan time), he may target the entire country 'in one night.' Trump had previously threatened to target Iran's civilian infrastructure, including bridges and power plants." At the same time, media reports speak of continued diplomatic efforts to reach an agreement. According to these reports, a 45-day ceasefire proposal has been put forward, and countries such as Pakistan, Turkey, and Egypt are playing a role in this process. However, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has only indicated that this process is ongoing.
